Description
The “Weary Hippo” print features a stylized hippopotamus motif, rendered in the distinctive, hand-drawn & block-print–inspired graphic style of Loes van Oosten. The “Willow" version gives a bold contrast, ideal for making the motif stand out. (Part of Rising Sun’s animal + nature-inspired theme.)
As part of the Rising Sun collection, the overall vibe draws on a warm, earthy / safari-inspired palette and stylized animal and botanical motifs — though “Willow” makes this variant more graphic, bold, and modern.
Because the fabric is 100% cotton, quilt-weight, and fairly standard width — it’s well suited to:
Quilts and patchwork projects (blocks, quilt tops, backings)
Bags, totes, pouches — for fun, graphic statement pieces
Home-decor items: cushion covers, pillowcases, table linens, small decor accents
Apparel for lighter garments (shirts, dresses, skirts) or children’s clothes — though note it’s quilting-weight cotton, not lightweight voile or lawn
As a quilting cotton, expect a medium-weight feel — sturdy enough for structured sewing, but not as heavy as canvas or upholstery fabric.
Because of the willow background + motif, the design will stand out — good for statement / focal pieces where the pattern shows clearly.
Works nicely with other prints from the Rising Sun collection (animals, botanicals, “blender” prints) — easy to coordinate if you want a cohesive theme.
